Short-Term:

  • Scaling and Reported Bugs: We want our new users to have seamless and bug-free access to Step. With our first major version released, we are continuously focusing on ensuring it scales well and remains error-free. Ongoing.

  • AI-powered API Integrations: Apple/Android health, screen time, spending habits. We aim to integrate a few of the most common data sources in a comprehensive manner, allowing us to fully automate the tracking of any arbitrary habits that are in the scope of the data. Planned completion: December - January.

  • Continued Improvements to Follow-ups: Currently, Step can schedule and plan singular reminder-like follow-ups. This system is already innovative, but we have several exciting features planned for the next update, which will complete our original vision for it. We call this “natural language alarms.” Planned completion: End of January.

Medium-Long Term:

  • Full Voice Mode Support: Currently, users are limited to keyboard and dictation inputs. With OpenAI’s latest voice mode pricing update (December 2024), it is now affordable enough for developers to support extensive experiences with it. Integration is a top priority. We anticipate to support this by January 2025.

  • On-demand Statistical Analysis: It is often beneficial for Step to access specific data trends or statistics as context to answer questions like, “Should we initiate a conversation to recommend that the user sleep earlier? Are their sleeping habits correlated with negative progress indicators?” Currently, Step can gather basic summary statistics, but these capabilities are limited, which restricts Step’s ability to make more complex, data-driven recommendations. We are actively working to expand this functionality, with plans to roll out more advanced capabilities in late January.

  • Payment Models: We want to be fully transparent here. As a team of developers and users ourselves, we share the common frustration that language models are often hastily added to pre-existing products without delivering truly transformative experiences. We are committed to being the exception.

Our singular focus as an entrepreneurial team—our mission statement—is to build a system that genuinely uses AI to help you. However, we also have to be transparent about the current reality. Step’s AI language models, like those used for planning, data processing, and user interactions, are what make our app so compelling, but they require significant computational resources. While the AI industry is evolving and costs will decrease over time, running AI models remains expensive today.

Therefore, as we grow, we will be discussing potential payment models with you, our users, to ensure we can continue developing and maintaining Step in a sustainable way.

Stay tuned in the coming months as we roll out these features! We’ll post updates here as well as on our social media accounts below.
